| Hi! I am Mitch Lyman. My wife Wendy and I started Safety for Toddlers in mid-1998 shortly after our oldest son shifted to high speed cruising. Soon much of our family time was spent chasing him around our home and keeping him out of trouble--no fun for him and even less for us. We used the word "no" so many times, he probably though it was his real name! To restore some peace and joy to our family time, we realized we needed to do some babyproofing--fast! Easier said than done!! After our fifth trip to the baby store, hours on the web, numerous holes in our cabinets and walls, and a couple of vists to urgent care, we found a professional babyproofer in California who gave us some long distance pointers. With no local help, we still struggled with finding and installing products. After a several more long weekends, our home was reasonably safe. During our quest for babyproofing advice, we talked with many parents of toddlers and small children. We found that most of them learned about babyproofing, like us, through experience and, in most cases, after an accident occurred. There was no one in the Triangle area with the training and experience to help parents create a safe homes for their children and, thereby, prevent accidents ahead of time. Thus, Safety for Toddlers® was born. Our mission is to provide parents with the resources and information to create a safe environment for their children to grow, explore, and learn. We look forward to serving your family and helping you to achieve your goal of a safe home environment for your kids. |
