Installation
is time consuming, sometimes costly, and, almost always, frustrating.
Many products, especially gates and latches, can be very difficult to
install. Retail stores, catalog or internet sales reps are little to no
help with installation. Most parents learn by trial and error--resulting
in further delays, frustration with exchanging or returning products,
and sometimes, damage to walls, woodwork, or cabinetry. Quite a few parents
give up before they can make their home safe. In the end, babyproofing
can take several weekends of precious time and, often, results in costly
mistakes.
